Who we are
Rugby has always been played in Kintyre at varying levels and at one stage there were two teams when the RAF & US Navy had a presence in the area.
The Club has been formed and disbanded many times through the years but during 2006, two individuals decided it was time that rugby was once again played in Kintyre - Jamie MacLachlan (former Trinity Academicals) and David Banks (former Suffolk County, East of England & Army).
Unfortunately Jamie & David were not acquainted, and so they endeavoured to get rugby going from different angles - Jamie got together guys local to Campbeltown who were happy to train in the town and travel to Lochgilphead to play for Mid Argyll RFC, and David approached the SRU for sponsorship to train as a coach and for help getting rugby promoted in Kintyre. Fortunately the SRU were aware of both individuals and made sure that an introduction was made.
Once the old committee was tracked down, administration transferred and a re-election held the Kintyre Rugby Football Club was reborn.
